The tiny capital of the Langhe area is Alba, a small town which saw the start of the history of that great brand-name Ferrero: a modest confectioner’s shop which, in war-time, turned to using hazelnuts - one of the resources of the territory - and invented the giandujot, Ferrero has now become the confectionery company renowned throughout the world for Nutella.
