Lake Orta lies in the area known as the Cusio, between the broad plain of the lower Ossola Valley and the western shore of lower Lake Maggiore. The area offers top quality conference facilities which lead major international companies to choose the lake area for incentive trips, conferences, congresses or corporate events.
Its main centres are Omegna, at the northernmost end of the lake, famous for its kitchenware industries (such as Alessi), and Orta San Giulio, an enchanting lakeside village facing the tiny, picturesque island of San Giulio.
Orta San Giulio is full of examples of Baroque and Renaissance art, and has a distinguished air with its aristocratic buildings and superb gardens. San Giulio Island, which is reached from Orta in a few minutes by ferry, is dominated by a Romanesque basilica, a bishop’s palace and a Benedictine monastery.
